typical ... stereoptypical

Question...why is it that when women come along a good looking, nice, wonderful guy who could be nothing but good for us, we automatically either start to pick them apart or think they are gay?! I've been wondering this to myself the past few days and I guess the only answer I could come up with is that stereotyping has gotten the better of us! As a friend of mine (whose name shall not be mentioned) and I were laying in his bed, he put on Disney music. Yes...literal songs from Disney movies including (but not limited to) Tarzan, Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast. I sat there wondering...how could this cute boy who looks so masculine ever love Disney in a way that I do?! I thought I was the only one to love Disney in such a way that a Sunday morning would drive you to envelop yourself in the soundtracks to many Disney movies. Either we are GREAT for each other, or this boy MUST like other men, be gay, and being trying to hide it! Is there such a thing as inbetween? I suppose a METRO man would be the term or correct usage for this guy. Is it possible to love things this way, yet be straight at the same time?

Do not worry if this is you reading this and considering that I may be possibly writing about you. I DO NOT in any way, shape, or form think that you are gay! Maybe the real question isn't "why do we stereotype lovely men like you to be gay"? Maybe the real question is...why don't more guys become MEN and admit they like CHILDLIKE things?! Please someone explain this to me! Confidence is key my dear men. KEY! So if you like a romantic movie (please say its "The Notebook"), or if you have a love for Disney, or baby animals, or anything cute-like, and/or somewhat childlike & girly...ADMIT IT! trust me ... this will not be looked over.

Honestly, all girls appreciate a little HONESTY :] even if for the second we resort to considering stereotypical thoughts that enter our minds...if you prove to use otherwise, you will earn a lot more RESPECT and LOVIN from us :)

brilliant words from a person i love.

each day you inspire me to be more than i am the day before.

my uncle wrote me this this morning and has made me believe in me. its so important each one of us be confident and love ourselves. we cant make anyone happy or have any open, honest, and pure relationships with anybody unless we are ourselves and we are the self that we accept and love. that means not trying to be somebody else. we just have to be...well simply put...just us :)

here is my letter from my uncle:

I'm writing this because I love you so much. I keep hearing you say, reading what you write and hearing from others...how much you like being compared to celebrities. You are an amazing person on your own! You are a beautiful, intelligent, and gifted person that should have others want to be like you. Don't sell yourself short by needing to be like someone else. Be that person that stands out in the crowd. Be your own person. Let the rest of the world be jealous of you! Lead the pack. You have so much in you to offer the world that it saddens me to see you spin in circles, wondering what to do. You know what you want in life...so take it! Make that choice and reach for your stars. They are just waiting for you. You will run into walls...but keep persevering, there are doors there that will open for you if you but try.

and so i say to everyone who just read that letter from my dearest uncle, take this letter and apply it to yourself when needed. I need to go over this everyday. It's so inspiring and gives such hope to me in my heart to know that people can think of me in this way. To know others can love you in such a way as this; that they want only for the best for you...it warms your heart.

I hope everyone has a beautiful, beautiful day.

xoxo.

well hello. its been quite some time.

goodness. its been months. ive been so busy and terrible at getting around to writing :/ procrastination is one thing i am crossing off my list of terrible personality traits this year. being replaced with so many new attitudes i do not even know where to begin! :)

first off. let me just tell you...if you have not seen SEX AND THE CITY... i highly recommend watching it. unless that is seeing and talking about sex and relationships highly offends you or makes you uncomfortable.

to be honest the show is so much more than that. i feel like every girl can relate to each character in one way or another. it gives you such a different outlook on being single and/or in a relationship! i feel good about being single now and having my own thing to do. its made me want to remain single and love having that independence...do things for me and figure out who i am first before i enter into a relationship with anyone else! :)

also...i have an even greater appreciation for music lately. has anyone seen 500 days of summer? i HIGHLY recommend it. its such a good movie! i suggest watching it with an OPEN and REALISTIC mind. do not go into it thinking all romantic-like and think of the fairy-tale ending. this movie is exactly what could happen to any couple. it takes a different perspective on things. i love it :) the music is incredible in it. so many amazing, indie artists. in fact, the movie was written and then the music was chosen for it and then rewritten to fit the soundtrack! i think thats incredible
it is definitely in my top ten.

lets see ... what else is new...i have just come to appreciate everything so much more. i dont feel like i take anything for granted. whether its materialistic or not, i appreciate fashion so much more. i loved it before but now its a passion of mine. i walked into the store anthropology and about had a heart attack! ive been in there before but just having that new found appreciation for things...i loved everything i saw. never have i ever been into a store where i could have walked around and touched everything i saw. i took it all in. and loved every minute i was in there.

dont we need more moments like those in life? the ones where we can stop and look around, and just appreciate everything about what were experience right then?

i think so. this year i want to create more of those.

anyways. i hope everyone is having a great year so far. :) ill try and update as much as i can.

have a beautiful day

xoxo.

falling asleep to pictures of cute things

im so very tired today. i haven't been sleeping whatsoever. i owe this to the fact that i have been sick for the past week and a half. swine flu maybe? im guessing so. but im getting better so thats a plus...anyways i haven't been much a sleeper the past few years. its just hard for me to get into the really deep sleep where hardly anything wakes you up. the kind where you're sleeping so soundly that if a fire alarm were to go off you probably would be stuck inside because you don't hear it go off. haha. so hopefully tonight i can get a little better night's sleep. i took some sleeping medicine so cross your fingers im not a hopeless [and sleepless] case!

anyways as i was playing on here just now i came across the cutest website:
this is the one of the most adorable things i've seen. it just makes me want a kitty so badly!!!

welll im off to bed. im about to fall asleep with the computer open and i would rather turn on "the corpse bride" and finish watching that :] night lovely dearests! here are some cute things to look at.

excuse me evening

i don't know what to write about today. and i don't really know what to say.
its just one of those moods where you want to curl up with a nice, soft, amazing blanket, with a nice cup of coffee or tea, and watch the notebook or read a book with old jazz on. i would have to say my music of choice would be that of billie holiday.

with that being said...i will leave you with my favorite song in the world:

"i'll be seeing you" by billie holiday.

I'll be seeing you
In all the old familiar places
That this heart of mine embraces
All day through.

In that small cafe;
The park across the way;
The children's carousel;
The chestnut trees;
The wishin' well.

I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day;
In every thing that's light and gay.
I'll always think of you that way.

I'll find you
In the morning sun
And when the night is new.
I'll be looking at the moon,
But I'll be seeing you.

I'll be seeing you
In every lovely summer's day;
In every thing that's light and gay.
I'll always think of you that way.

I'll find you
In the morning sun
And when the night is new.
I'll be looking at the moon,
But I'll be seeing you.

The best love is

the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds.
-noal calhoun

noah calhoon says it best in the notebook. this movie will always be my number one favorite movie. i love it. i want to marry someone just like noah because i think of myself to be just like allie. one of my closest friends said i am just like her. goodness. this movie just envelops everything i believe about love.

one time i thought i found my noah. after a year and a half he turned out to be no such thing. far from it. and so everytime i watch this now, my hope continues to grow that my noah, my real, actual noah, is somewhere out though. he is waiting for me to come along.

he is going to come up to me and ask me to dance. sing me "ill be seeing you" by billie holiday. and forever he will have captured me to be his forever and ever.

oh i cannot wait. :)

rome - pictures to replace the words

i think today can only be expressed in pictures. pictures that may not even represent what im feeling. some, yes. some, i just love. so im going to add a few. some are quotes. some are photographs. i hope you feel something when you look at them. to put it plainly: at some point in time i will have felt, will feel, or am feeling all of these emotions and feelings stirred up in these pictures. i know that even though im not feeling like some of these at the moment, that i once did feel the way some of these depict.
i really hope to feel that again too. and i know i will. someday.

i know those last few sentences are repetitive. but sometimes things just need to be reitterated.

at some point in time i will have felt, will feel, or am feeling all of these emotions and feelings stirred up in these pictures.

enjoy your day!

countdown - three weeks without a word

oh my heavens.
its been almost 3 weeks since i have written. ive been so terribly busy and i didnt make any time to write. sorry! :/ unfortunately im sick today. i went to work all day, pushed through, and worked an entire eight hour shift. tomorrow i have to be there at seven. ill probably head home early though. im not feeling well at all.

but on a positive note...it allowed me to read peter and the shadow thieves. i have hardly had time to sit down and read lately. ive missed it so much. tomorrow ill finish this book though and then finish impulse by ellen hopkins. after that i plan on finishing identical and tricks by ellen hopkins as well.

there are so many books i need to buy and to read."sense and sensibility and sea monsters" is on my list of books to read. as well as "pride and prejudice and zombies." both look so good!
i have never read any of jane austen's books but i've heard these are very good and since i work at barnes&noble i feel its my civil duty as a bookseller (especially one who runs the kids/teens department) to read up on books so i can recommend them.

plus i just love a good read.
especially falling asleep reading.

i also would like to read alice in wonderland. i love that movie so much.
in fact im going to design my cupcake shop with a theme such as that.

on a parting note ill leave you with this insanely amazing remix video of alice in wonderland i found. you will want to watch it over and over. i love it! goodnight world :]

i hope your day was lovely.

ps have you read any good reads lately?
